China's Cyberspace Administration Unveils "Digital China Development Report (2022)" to Speed Up Digital Content Creation
On May 23rd, the Cyberspace Administration of China released the "Digital China Development Report (2022)".
According to the Report, by the end of 2022, China's digital economy had reached a scale of 50.2 trillion yuan, maintaining its position as the world's second largest, with a year-on-year nominal growth of 10.3%, and accounting for 41.5% of the country's GDP. The construction of Digital China has also achieved significant results in multiple fields: digital government services have greatly improved efficiency, digital culture has provided new momentum for cultural prosperity, digital society has effectively promoted the sharing of quality service resources, digital ecological civilization construction has effectively promoted green and low-carbon development, digital technological innovation capabilities have continued to strengthen across society, digital security systems have been further improved, digital governance has created a favorable development environment for various industries, and digital international cooperation has garnered broad consensus.
The Report points out that since the implementation of the "Opinions on Promoting and Implementing the National Digital Culture Strategy" in 2022, efforts have been made to create a cultural service system that integrates online and offline interactions and covers multiple dimensions. Cultural venues have accelerated their digital transformation, and the nationwide smart library system and public culture cloud construction projects have been further promoted. The smart service capabilities of public libraries have significantly improved, and the service functions of the National Public Culture Cloud and over 200 local public culture cloud platforms have been continuously improved, with digital cultural resources becoming increasingly abundant. Digital services for nationwide reading and arts education have also improved significantly, with the number of digital reading users in China reaching 530 million. The construction of digital museums in traditional villages has made positive progress, with 126 new village museums added in 2022, and a total of 839 village museums completed, forming a traditional village database that covers various data types such as panoramic tours, graphics, videos, and real-life models. New application scenarios such as cloud performances, virtual exhibitions, and immersive experiences continue to emerge. Various exhibitions and performances, such as the 13th China Arts Festival, the 80th anniversary of Mao Zedong's speech at the Yan'an Forum on Literature and Art, and excellent stage performances of the new era are all presented both online and offline to create a "second theater" and further expand their influence. The National Rural Evening Party demonstration and display activities in 2022 were presented in the form of live webcasts and short videos, with online and offline participation reaching approximately 118 million people.
