The 35th Beijing Book Fair Is Coming Soon!
The 35th Beijing Book Fair will be held on February 24. There will be more than 400,000 titles displayed during the BBF, with an exhibition area of 50,000 square meters, 2,729 booths, and more than 700 exhibitors, making it the largest ever. This year's Book Fair will hold a variety of thematic activities in various forms and contents in and outside the area of several venues, and as of February 14, nearly 300 vibrant activities will be brilliantly presented during the fair.
Annual Report on China's Digital Publishing Industry for 2021-2022 Released
On February 16, the 12th China Digital Publishing Expo opened in Beijing Shougang Park. Wei Yushan, President of the China Press and Publication Research Institute, released the Annual Report on China's Digital Publishing Industry from 2021 to 2022. According to the report, China's digital publishing industry showed strong development in 2021, with the overall scale of the industry reaching 1.276 trillion yuan (USD 190 billion ), an increase of 8.33% over the previous year, with Internet advertising, online games, online education, and digital music earn top 4 in revenue.
Digital Publishing Achieved Double-digit Growth in 2022
According to data from China’s National Bureau of Statistics, in 2022, enterprises in culture and related industries achieved a business income of 12.18 trillion yuan (USD 1.77 trillion), an increase of 0.9% over the previous year. Among the nine cultural industries, five achieved growth in business revenue over the previous year, including content creation & production and news & information services with growth rates of 3.4%, and 3.3%.The resilience of the development of new cultural industries continued to increase. Among them, digital publishing achieved double-digit growth of 30.3%.
Phoenix Publishing & Media Introduces China Mobile's Investment, Jointly Promoting Digital Transformation of the Publishing Industry
On 7 February 2023, Jiangsu Phoenix Publishing & Media Group and China Mobile Investment Holdings signed a Share Transfer Agreement, under which Phoenix Media intends to transfer its 254 million shares (representing 10% of the total share capital) and its corresponding shareholders' equity to China Mobile Investment Holdings.
The two parties have complementary strengths and have great potential to cooperate in various fields such as convergent book publishing, digital content, intelligent education, and the operation of online and offline cultural spaces. The two parties will jointly promote the digital transformation of the publishing industry and build a high level of digital publishing technology innovation capability.
